[music] Hi, welcome to another video. So, Qen has launched another new model and this one is QN 3.6 Plus. And to be honest, this looks like a really good model for sure, especially if you care about coding, repo level tasks, front-end generation, and generally getting useful output instead of fluff. This was made live on April 20, 2026. And from what QN is saying officially, this model is focused very heavily on agentic coding, practical reasoning, and completing real work rather than just sounding smart. And that matters a lot because many models can explain things nicely. But when it comes to actually navigating a code base, planning steps, fixing issues, or staying coherent across a longer task, that is where they start struggling. Now, one of the first things that stands out here is the context window. QN 3.6 Plus comes with a 1 million token context window by default, which is kind of crazy. And I know that context numbers are often used as marketing, but if the model can actually stay useful with long context, then that becomes a huge advantage because once your project gets bigger, once there are multiple files, existing patterns, tests, docs, and edge cases, a lot of models start losing the plot. So if this one can stay stable over longer sessions, that is a really big deal. But honestly, the biggest reason I like this launch is not just that the model seems strong. It is that people can actually use it very easily. Because many times a company launches a good model and then the access is weird, the pricing is bad, the provider support is limited, or you have to jump through a bunch of annoying steps just to see if it is any good. So even if the model is technically impressive, a lot of normal users never really try it. Here, that is not really the case. If you use QN code, you can use QN 3.6 Plus for fully free through Q Oath, which is super nice. And this is not just some tiny teaser either. Right now, QN code officially says that the OOTH flow gives you 1,000 free requests per day. So for students, indie devs, hobbyists, or even professionals who just want to test the model properly before paying for anything, this is really great. And I think that is a very smart move. If your model is actually good, then let people use it. Let them test it on real repos. Let them compare it against Claude, Gemini, GPT, Deepseek or whatever else they already use. That is how trust gets built. Dia, that is how people figure out whether a model is actually useful for their workflow instead of just looking good in benchmarks. Now, if you do not know what Qen code is, it is basically QN's open- source coding agent that lives in your terminal. type / select Q oath sign in with your QN account and then you're ready to go. So there is not a ton of friction there and that matters a lot more than some people think because if setup is annoying most people keep saying they will try it later and then they never do but if the path is basically install sign in and start using it then many more people will actually give it a serious shot and the nice thing here is that QN code itself is open source now I will come back to the fact that QN 3.6 6 plus is not open weights because that is definitely important but at least the tool layer around it is open source and visible. So there is still something quite developer friendly about the overall package. Now it is not just QN code either. QN 3.6 plus is also available for free on open router which is awesome as well. So if you already use open router with your editor coding assistant or some custom setup then you can try this model there too. And that is a big deal because it means you do not have to completely change your workflow just to evaluate one model. That is one of the biggest barriers with new models. Sometimes the model may be strong, but if you need to move everything around, switch tools, rebuild configs, and change your setup just to try it once, then most people will skip it. But if it shows up on Open Router and there is a free route there, then suddenly it becomes much easier to test. You can plug it into the tools you already use and find out very quickly whether it is actually good for your tasks and that is exactly what I like here. Qen 3.6 plus is not being presented like some inaccessible enterprise model that only works inside one locked ecosystem. You can use it inside Q code for free and you can also try it on open router for free. That makes it far easier for people to judge the model based on results rather than just hype. Of course, with free routes on Open Router, there can be limits, temporary availability changes, and rate constraints. So, keep that in mind. Free does not always mean unlimited, and it does not always mean perfectly stable access all the time. But still, the fact that a model like this is available there for free is genuinely quite great. And this is where the value conversation becomes really important because if you're into AI coding tools right now, the pricing situation is honestly all over the place. Some tools are very good but expensive. Some are cheaper but not that great. Some give you a strong model but wrap it in a workflow you do not like. And some look nice in demos but then just burn credits when you use them for actual work. So whenever something strong comes along and people can try it seriously without paying first that automatically makes it more interesting. Now another reason I think this model matters is because coding models are becoming more and more agentic. It is no longer just about oneshot code completions. So generally the better models are expected to understand the the understand the goal as well as inspect. Qen as a brand has built a strong reputation around open models too. A lot of people associate QN with useful open releases that can be run in more flexible ways. So when they put out a flagship model like this and it is not open weights that definitely stands out. It is not shocking because many companies keep their best flagship models closed, but it is still notable and worth pointing out clearly. If you are someone who only wants fully openweight models, if you care deeply about self-hosting, local deployment, full control, or running the exact same model on your own infrastructure, then this is obviously a downside. There is no point pretending otherwise. If open weights are a requirement, then Q13.6 6 plus being closed is simply a limitation. But if your main question is can I use a really good coding model right now without paying immediately then this still looks like a very compelling option because even though the flagship model itself is not open weights access to it is still surprisingly open in practice. You are not being forced into some absurd pricing wall just to see whether it is good. You can actually try it and that changes the conversation a lot. That is why I said this is interesting. It is closed but it is still highly accessible. QN code itself is open source. The model is available through QN OOTH for free inside QN code. It is also available as a free route on open router. So from a user access perspective, this is much better than what you often get with closed flagship models. Also, Alibaba has said they will continue to support the open source community with selected QN 3.6 models in developerfriendly sizes. So it is not like they are abandoning open models entirely. It is more that the plus flagship here is closed while the broader QN ecosystem still keeps some open source direction. Install the tool, sign in and start using it or open router and test the free route in your existing setup. That is a pretty compelling story. So overall I think Qen is doing a lot right here. The model looks strong. The focus on coding and reasoning is exactly where demand is. So the free access and QN code is very useful. The open router availability is also great and even though it is not open weights, it is still much easier to try than many other flagship level models. That combination is what makes this feel easy to recommend. It is not open weights which is definitely interesting and definitely worth pointing out. But as a practical model to actually use, this seems quite awesome. Overall, it's pretty cool. Anyway, let me know your thoughts in the comments.
